Hello friend!
Today I want to talk about the Maruti Grand Vitara — one of those SUVs that catch your eye as soon as they roll into the yard. I’ll share what I liked, what I noticed, and whether this car makes sense if you’re thinking of buying one in a city like ours. I’m writing in simple words so that even if you’re not a car-expert, it’ll make sense.
First Impressions
When you see the Maruti Grand Vitara in person, you’ll notice it has a strong presence. The lines are bold, the stance is wide, and it looks like a bigger SUV than many in its class. Do you know it’s very special in the sense that it offers multiple power‐train options (petrol, CNG and hybrid) in the Indian market?
Honestly, for a family car or someone wanting a little more space and comfort than a small hatch, this one stands out.
Price in Our Town
Now, coming to what many of us care about — the money side. For our town (somewhere in India), the ex-showroom price for the Maruti Grand Vitara starts at about ₹10.77 lakh for the base model.
For higher trims, especially the hybrid versions, it goes up to about ₹19.72 lakh ex-showroom.
Of course the on-road price (what you pay after taxes, RTO, insurance) will be higher — so in our town maybe somewhere around ₹12 lakh onwards for the base version. Just keep in mind: as you go up trims and add optional features, the price will climb. So brother, if you’re budgeting, start with the base and check what extras you want.

Engine, Power & Fuel Options
Now let’s know more interesting fact: The Maruti Grand Vitara is available in a mild‐hybrid petrol, strong hybrid petrol, and even a CNG variant.
- The mild‐hybrid petrol gives you decent mileage and is simpler.
- The strong hybrid version gives you even better fuel economy and is modern.
- The CNG option is useful if you drive a lot inside or around the city and want lower running cost.
For example: somewhere the mileage figures go up to about 26.6 km/kg for the CNG version!
So if you drive daily and care about fuel cost, this is a big plus.
Design & Colours
Let’s talk design. Friend, I found the outside to be clean but bold. You’ve got big wheels, strong body surfaces, and a roofline that commands more attention than simpler cars.
When you open the doors, the interior gives you a sense of premium for its class — soft surfaces, decent space, and good visibility.
About colours: You will find shades like Arctic White, Chestnut Brown, Grandeur Grey, Midnight Black, Nexa Blue, Opulent Red, Splendid Silver and combos (dual-tone with Black roof) among others.
So you have options to pick something that suits your taste — whether you like subtle or something that stands out.
Comfort, Features & Practical Use
Brother, this is where the Maruti Grand Vitara keeps you comfortable. Imagine you’re doing a Sunday outing with family: kids in the back, luggage in the boot. The car has good space, the back seat is okay for grown-ups, and the boot can carry what you’ll need for a picnic.
Feature-wise: you get modern infotainment, multiple driving modes (in hybrid version), and nice ergonomics. According to the brand, “designed for comfort … making every long-distance trip enjoyable”.
One point: the hybrid version is a real treat if you do city traffic often — engine switches/coasts smoothly, lower noise. So for daily city use + weekend drives, this works well.

Driving Experience & Running Cost
From my viewpoint, the Maruti Grand Vitara drives well. It’s not hyper sporty, but that’s fine because for everyday use, we don’t always need sport mode. It gives you confidence in traffic, and on highways, you feel stable.
Running cost: Because of hybrid/CNG options, you can expect better fuel economy than many regular petrol SUVs. So if you plan to own for several years, the fuel savings matter.
Also, maintenance cost for a car from a brand like Maruti Suzuki tends to be reasonable compared to some premium brands, which is a comfort for people like us. One review said: “well-rounded… practical choice for urban families”.
What I Liked Most
- The fact that you get hybrid option in this price bracket.
- Strong presence on road — you’ll feel good driving it, others will notice.
- Good mix of features + comfort + fuel economy (depending on variant).
- Colour options + design that help it feel premium without being extremely expensive.
What Could Be Better
- If you pick the base variant, you might miss some of the premium features (like advanced safety or roof-rail or bigger wheels). So you might feel “I wish I had that” after a while.
- The hybrid version cost is higher — so your upfront cost will be more. If you’re budget-conscious, you might weigh petrol vs hybrid.
- The rear seats and boot are good, but if you have a big family (5 adults + luggage) you might feel slight tightness compared to very large SUVs.
- If your roads are really rough, maybe a higher ride height or very stiff suspension might be desired — but for typical city + highway use it’s fine.

Should You Buy It? My Two Cents
So brother, if I were you and thinking of buying a new SUV in our town, would I pick the Maruti Grand Vitara? I’d say yes, with a few conditions.
- Make sure you go for the variant that suits your needs (if you care a lot about fuel cost, consider the hybrid or CNG).
- Check your budget: since price rises with variant, extras, taxes, etc.
- If you have a family of 4-5, this will serve well for many years.
- If you expect to off‐road or carry 7 people often, maybe look at something bigger.
For everyday city use + some weekend highway trips, it hits a sweet spot of style + practicality + cost.
My Verdict
The Maruti Grand Vitara stands out in its segment because it offers a lot of value. It’s not perfect, but for a normal person like you or me who wants a good SUV without going overboard on budget, it is convincing.
In our town, when you count total cost (purchase + fuel + maintenance), this car makes sense. Plus you’ll feel good driving something that looks sharp, doesn’t guzzle petrol, and gives you comfort.
So if you ask me: “Should I consider it?” — I say yes. Visit a showroom, test-drive the variant you like, see which features you must have, check colour in daylight (because matter of taste), and then decide.
