Hello friends, Today I’m going to talk about the upcoming Genesis GV90, an electric luxury SUV from the Korean brand Genesis. It’s still a “to-be-released” model, so I’ll share everything we know so far and add my personal take on why it looks very special.
What is the Genesis GV90?
The GV90 is an upcoming full-size electric SUV made by Genesis, the luxury division of Hyundai Motor Company.
It is expected to debut around 2026 and will be positioned above the current Genesis GV90 SUV in the Genesis line-up.
So you can think of it like: if you want maximum size + luxury + electric power, this will be the model.
Design & Unique Features
Brother, let’s know something interesting: The GV90 is expected to have some bold design ideas. According to what’s out there, it might feature rear-hinged “coach” doors (sometimes called suicide doors) that eliminate the central B-pillar to make entry/exit more dramatic.
Do you know it’s very special? These door ideas are rarely used on large vehicles because of structural and safety challenges—but Genesis is signalling they might bring them to production.
The platform is expected to be EV-oriented (electric motor), underpinned by Hyundai’s “Integrated Modular Architecture (IMA)” for electric vehicles.
So you get the sense: luxury, big size, electric, dramatic doors.
Where It Sits in the Market & Why It Matters
From my point of view: in India (and our town too), luxury electric SUVs are starting to take off, though full-size ones are still rare. The Genesis GV90 will likely compete with top-end models from established premium brands. For Genesis this is a big step—it moves the brand from niche luxury into full-size flagship territory.
For instance, Genesis already has the GV80 (a mid-size luxury SUV) globally. The Genesis GV90 will step up further. This means for someone who’s used to luxury sedans or large luxury SUVs and wants an electric one, the Genesis GV90 might become a tempting option.
Expected Specifications & What to Look For
Since the car is not yet released, exact specs are not confirmed—but we have hints and expectations:
- Electric powertrain: as indicated by the description “Electric Motor” in the Wikipedia summary.
- Full-size SUV body: 5 doors, large dimensions, three rows maybe.
- Premium luxury features: based on Genesis brand’s existing reputation, one can expect high-end materials, lots of technology, comfort features that go beyond a regular SUV.
- Big size = more interior space, more presence on the road.
From my perspective: If I were buying such a car in India, I would check how well the luxury features are adapted for Indian roads, how the EV (if fully electric) works with Indian charging infrastructure, what kind of after-sales support Genesis offers here, etc.

Price & When It Might Come to India
Now, here’s the tricky part: because it’s an upcoming model, exact pricing is not published yet. But let me give you a my guess and scenario:
In the USA or global markets, full-size luxury electric SUVs from premium brands often start at something like US$80,000-100,000+ (which in Indian rupee equivalent is quite high). For India (our town included) after import duties, taxes, etc, it will likely cost ₹ 1.5 crore+ maybe even ₹ 2 crore+ depending on variant.
So if I say: “in our town you might see the Genesis GV90 priced around ₹ 1.8 crore to ₹ 2.5 crore, depending on specification and import status.” That’s just an estimate.
Also: arrival in India may lag global launch by months or even a year or more—so keep that timeline in mind.
My Personal Take – Why I’m Excited (and some caution)
Let me share what excites me and what I’m cautious about.
Why I’m excited
- A full-size luxury EV from a brand like Genesis means you get something fresh, possibly less common than the usual German luxury SUVs.
- The potential for dramatic door design, spacious interior, luxury finishes means you’ll feel “special” driving it.
- As the world shifts to electric, having a large SUV that’s electric and luxurious is a statement.
Some caution / things to check
- Charging and infrastructure: If you get it in India, you’ll want good support for home charging, public fast-charging, battery service and warranty.
- Service network: Genesis is newer in many markets compared to long-established luxury brands. Service centres, parts availability matter.
- Running costs & resale value: Luxury EVs often have high purchase cost; we’ll need to see how they depreciate in India, how battery health holds up.
- Real-world size vs roads: Full-size means big dimensions—parking, narrow lanes, Indian roads may throw challenges. If you’re in Patna, for instance, check how easily you can maneuver, park.
In short: If I were in the market and had budget, I’d be very interested—especially for the novelty and luxury. But I’d also make sure all practicalities are sorted.
Colours, Variants and Local Appeal
Brother, let’s know something interesting: While we don’t yet have full detail for India, Genesis globally often offers a range of rich colours and interior materials. For example, their other models come in premium finishes, wood trims, ambient lighting, high-end leather etc. So one can expect the Genesis GV90 to offer premium colour options – maybe deep blues, black, white, perhaps special metallic finishes.
From a local point of view: Having unique colour inside/outside adds to the “luxury feel” and makes it stand out from more common cars. If you buy one in Patna, you’ll likely notice many heads turn.
Real-life Example & Imagine the Experience
Imagine this: you arrive at a high-end hotel, you step out of a Genesis GV90 —big, elegant, electric hum instead of engine roar. The door opens smoothly, your guests look impressed, you drive away quietly through the city, then you hit the highway and feel strong electric acceleration. You pull into home, plug into your home charger, and overnight you’re ready for next day. You open the rear seats for family or friends—they’re relaxed, maybe the rear has a massage seat or huge screen. That’s the kind of lifestyle this car could bring.
On the flip side: you maneuver into a busy city street, parking is tight, ground clearance may matter, you worry about where to charge if long trip. So you’ll need to plan.

Summary – Should You Wait for the Genesis GV90 ?
Yes, I would say: If you’re looking for a full‐size luxury electric SUV and budget is no major constraint, waiting for the GV90 is a good idea. Because it promises luxury, size, new design, and electric efficiency.
However, if you need a car right now, or you are restricted by budget or service network concerns, you might consider other luxury SUVs or wait for the right time when GV90 lands in India with full support.
In our local context, for someone in Patna or Bihar region: it might take even a little longer for local dealership, service centre to fully roll out. So keep that in mind.
